Fontes

Fontes is 19 years old and born in Lisbon,

In his youth, the Soundcloud collectives Soulection and Twerknation28 were a big influence and his introduction to alternative music.

In his opinion, alternative music, through its influences from different genres, allows for the representation of more diverse and contemporary realities of life that are not reflected by the conventional music landscape.

Soundcloud Remix and Edit Culture, i.e.: neo soul r&b, baile funk and vogue as well as Jersey Club are a good example of this and probably the closest genre to which he could be categorised.

The fact that the connection between gender, origin, ethnicity and identity hardly exists for him, as well as growing up with Internet culture and Frankfurt's highly diverse youth scene, are his incentive to create new identity images. Categories and labels of previous generations play no role for him.

His first EP "Mädchenmusik" is his invitation into this process.

Through the lens of his emotional world, Fontes gives an insight into his experiences and insights gained through raveculture.

These are emotions that arose in moments during this time and resonated strongly with him: for example, the anticipation and self-confidence of entering the rave, feeling eyes on him while dancing and feeling desired, and no longer judging himself according to criteria of conventional masculinity - but being free.

In the three songs, he depicts colourful, euphoric and emotionally driven lighthearted raveculture and the return to an almost childlike authenticity that allows the complete living out of one's own feelings and identity.

This is done with the self-evidence and egocentricity necessary for it.

Put more simply:

"Shout out to my Girl Azelia Banks, for putting me onto that shit, ultimately, this EP is about feeling yourself. Feeling your style, your grind and your shit."

With these opening words of the first track "Hips", Fontes clearly sets the tone.

The EP is a moment in which the stage belongs only to him - and thus also to those who share this experience with him while listening to the EP.

He calls the compilation of the most diverse electronic dance music genres, which is evident in alternative electronic music and, among other things, his EP, "No Tag/ Fusion Dance" music, because in today's world, authentic representation of the reality of life can no longer take place under a common thematic and cultural principle, but overall carries a contemporary recontextualisation of earlier dance music genres as a leitmotif.

The genre puts the individual in the foreground.
